i have the worst bellyache ever but i’m currently in the process of transfering all my music from the pc to my laptop and it’s taking hours so… ADD ME ON SKYPE seriously nobody did and i feel like i’m smelly or something… even if i did you wouldn’t be able to smell it through the internet so i’m just paranoid whatever ADD ME the name is still telewank
my dad put this newspaper on my desk yesterday morning because there was an article about internet addiction on the front page and i was just a little offended not because he assumed i might have issues with that but because such crap makes the front page. stupid white people’s problems, humanity will always invent new diseases when they run out of miseries, one day we’ll all be addicted to food or something while people in other countries are still starving. it just made me really angry because even if i might be ~addicted~ i still happily leave the house to do anything else that seems interesting to me and there were people in this article complaining about how they get nervous whenever they can’t use the internet it was just ridiculous
I agree. Frankly I was disappointed they chose not to seriously discuss the issue, even though it’s difficult to respond to Colbert. He really did seem interested in their opinion on the matter, though. I feel there was so much they could have said.
that’s exactly how i think about it, i think i was just a bit enraged when i typed it out yesterday because i was a bit annoyed by colbert so… yes! thank you
Yeah. I don’t think Thom would have problems having a serious discussion about environmental issues but not as a 30 second soundbite on a comedy show. Plus, I don’t think he’s a big fan of celebrities…
I think he likes comedy shows. Their first album is named for a skit off a really juvenile comedy show. And I don’t think he was worried about looking bad. I just think it’s hard to reduce something you take seriously to a joke on a comedy show. Authors on Colbert have that problem a lot. They want to play along but it’s hard to be flippant about one’s life’s work. I think he was sorta frozen between wanting to give serious replies, like it was a serious interview and making light of it, like it was a bit, but couldn’t quite think fast enough to do either so he didn’t really say anything. But I don’t think he or Ed came off badly. It just wasn’t very funny or very informative.
I usually skip interviews like that on Colbert because most of the time, people don’t know what to do and they end up like that. Jon Stewart’s interviews are usually better because the interviewees aren’t trying to figure out how to interact with this sarcastic/ironic/contrary persona.
i noticed that, that’s why i said i knew that colbert must’ve probably been a pain in the ass to talk to about a serious issue like that. but i just can’t help but think they could have given it a chance by briefly explaining it because colbert himself said that he thinks that most of his viewers are not even aware of these issues. that’s just something they could have done, and ed did and that’s why my post earlier is mainly aimed at thom. but since i have great respect for him and his work i came to believe that it was just as you said, he probably just didn’t know how to say it.
Yeah. I don’t think Thom would have problems having a serious discussion about environmental issues but not as a 30 second soundbite on a comedy show. Plus, I don’t think he’s a big fan of celebrities lipservicing issues on talk shows. It’s too wanky
well thing is, i just thought it would matter to him enough to not care for it even though it might have been wanky and colbert might have been a pain in the ass because after all he could have addressed people. but it seemed to be more important to him to not lose face and stick to his “i hate wanky comedy shows” attitude, which is okay but i don’t understand why they would play on a wanky comedy show in the first place then
I AGREE! but i felt sorry for them because the guy was taking the whole corporate hate thing to another level, i mean seriously, they may of wanted to actually talk about their music for once, not whether they use oil or not :/ ah, who knows :L
yeah i was thinking about that too, i estimate thom to be quite sensitive when it comes to people making fun of him and so colbert just took it a bit too far with the corporate hate. i guess he ended up thinking “lol okay then i’m not going to take this seriously either”, which is a bummer seeing as i’d really have loved hearing them talk about TKOL, but i can’t really blame him for that. but colbert seemed to actually really care for their opinion concerning the environmental stuff so i just can’t really understand why thom kept being stubborn like that because that’s just really childish
i had no internet for the entire day today and i didn’t know how to fix it so i had to wait for my brother to give me his internet stick ugh. i did a lot of homework instead so i guess it was okay. but my download of the colbert report was also fucked up and so i have to download it again now
ugh i just came home from school and i’m totally exhausted and pissed off at some people but i had a nice conversation about radiohead with my best friend today because we haven’t seen each other in days and i just thought he was being a moody bitch again but when i met him today he hugged me and asked me about the steve reich concert and everything was fine again huh
also i’m downloading the colbert report thingy now so i can watch it in half an hour c:
